Truth Will Always Be Truth
Truth will always be truth, whether we believe it or not. If it does not directly affect your life, the content of truth still has the power of credibility and durability. The truth God provides gives freedom (John 8.32). It is a freedom which does not come from two parties hashing out standards upon which both will agree. It is a freedom extended to God’s enemies - Us. It is a freedom from punishment. It is a freedom from hatred. It is a freedom reaching out for reconciliation. It is a freedom of particular interest to those who believe they are locked in to attitudes and actions from which they believe there is no escape. This truth is founded upon the resurrection of the Christ who came forth from the bondage of something man fears most - DEATH (Hebrews 2.14-16).
A man who was an advocate for the poor told about a conversation he had with a theologian. They were discussing the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The theologian made this observation: “The evidence for Jesus’ resurrection is so strong that nobody would question it except for two things: It is a very unusual event, and second, if you believe it happened, you have to change the way you live.”
This is something which directly applies to every person who reads and studies about Jesus dying on the cross and His resurrection. If you really believe Jesus rose again, such a belief mandates a change of life. Peter’s life was turned upside-down after he saw the resurrected Christ. He was once a hasty fisherman-disciple who denied knowing Christ after His arrest. After the resurrection, he became a bold teacher and witness for Him (John 18.17,25,27; Acts 2.14-36). Once Peter presented to those gathered on Pentecost the same Jesus he once denied, they were in the same position where he once stood. Almost three thousand souls changed the way they lived that day (Acts 3.37-41).
Has belief in Jesus’ resurrection changed your life? Are your goals and priorities different than they were? Have kindness, love, patience, and forgiveness occupied your life where it was once void? Read the scripture to know what God wants to do IN you by virtue of the resurrected Lord. Then obey Him to make the needed changes. Remember this - the same power God used to raise Jesus from the dead is the same power which will work in you to raise your life to a level you never thought possible, but God does.
