Communication of the Best ind
Communication is something God is very good at doing. He realizes communication with man has to be understandable, accurate, and complete. If God does not communicate this way, man will not know how to obtain faith in order to please God (Hebrews 11.6). Yet, to have a faith which pleases God, one must hear what God says (Romans 10.17).
Since God can communicate with us, do we listen? Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10.27). To hear the voice of God, we must first say to God, “Speak Lord, for Thy servant heareth” (1 Samuel 3.9). Secondly, we must tune our wills to His (John 7.17). Thirdly, we must expect to hear Him say what we NEED - not what we WANT - Him to say (Isaiah 5.8-9; Jeremiah 10.23).
Our relationships with God do not solely rely upon God hearing us. We must listen to Him if the relationship is to be meaningful. Ask God to give you hearing ears and a listening heart (Matthew 13.15). As you attend to the words of God, the more you will perceive His voice above the sounds of the world, the cruel suggestions of unbelievers, and the cries of society. Your trust in Him will grow. Your knowledge of Him will increase. Your love for Him will mature. You will be more certain of His goodness. Why not listen to Him more? Let Him speak. Do not speak for Him. Give Him time to talk. What is He saying? Sit down and hear Him for a few minutes. Your faith needs it.
