- Ask God for wisdom to speak and do so with a single mind (James 1:5-8).
- If your voice boasts, let it only be in exalting Christ and the use He has of you in service (James 1:9-10).
- Be cautious of the temptations of the mouth - Know what they are (James 1:13).
- Be constantly quick to hear, slow to speak. Hear faster than you speak. (James 1:19).
- Learn from the voice of God’s word what words should be used (James 1:22-25).
- Exercise consistency with your mouth, so it is parallel with your faith (James 1:26).
- Learn the respectful way to speak of and to the poor and the rich (James 2:1-4).
- Remind yourself that your words should be used in consciousness of the final judgment (James 2:12).
- The words used to state your belief should be supported by works (James 2:14-26).
- Never claim a truth you do not experience. Do not lie against the truth (James 3:14).
- Ask for divine wisdom in order for your speech to be wise and display the work of God (James 3:17-18).
- Resist quarrelsome words. Do not get into verbal fighting. It is the mark of a bad heart (James 4:1).
- Resist evil speaking and critical words of another (James 4:11).
- Never boast in what you have accomplished or will accomplish (James 4:13).
- Always speak as one who is subject to the divine providence of God (James 4:17).
- Be honest. If you say you know the right thing to do - DO IT (James 4:17)!!
- Never grumble or complain, knowing the Judge is at the door (James 5:9).
- Be honest all the time. Have trustworthy speech (James 5:12).
- Speak daily to God in prayer, whether in suffering or peace (James 5:13).
- Sing praises to God whenever you are cheerful (James 5:13).
- Offer supplication to God for those who are sick (James 5:14).
- Confess your sins, when you have wronged God and others. Do not justify why you did it (James 5:16).
- Pray for brethren with a faith toward God who hears (James 5:16).
- Speak words of restoration when you see another wander (James 5:19-20).
