What Do You Think of Satan?
You probably know what Satan thinks of you - not much! In contrast, you should know what God thinks about you (John 3:16; Titus 2:11-12). Question is, what do you think about Satan?
People probably do not sit hours on end and ponder about Satan, but Paul was concerned about Satan corrupting our minds from the “simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). Paul knew Satan does not have to force someone into a corner. All Satan needs to do is utter persuasive words. That is all it took for Eve, and we are no different. If Satan says what we want to hear at the time we want to hear it, we can be easily swayed.
What Satan wants is for us to doubt the truth and goodness of God. Just as he led Eve to think God was “holding out” on her, so it is true today. He wants us to doubt God’s truth and goodness every time we hear someone say:
- “Don’t you go to the church that believes in water salvation?”
- “Your church doesn’t believe in music, does it?”
- “Your church doesn’t believe in the Old Testament, does it?”
- “Don’t you believe that people in your church are the only ones who will be saved?”
- “Your church doesn’t believe in having fun, does it?”
- “Your church holds a strict view on marriage, divorce, and remarriage.”
What do you suppose Satan will think of next to persuade you to question following God/ Whatever it is, his intention is still the same. It is the same as it was with Peter before he denied the Lord. “Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat” (Luke 22:31).
