Keeping Your Faith Alive (44)

“Good morning to the image of God.” Have you ever thought to say that to yourself each morning as you look into the mirror? Do you ever see yourself in the mirror that way? Not often I am sure, but it is true. “God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him” (Genesis 1:27).

For the Christian, it goes beyond just being created in His image. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.” Besides being a “fine work of art” in creation, the Christian becomes a delicate work to magnify the Artist in the truest sense. God desires to craft us into servants of righteousness and holiness of truth (Ephesians 4:22-24). He has a purpose in you, and your faith should see the purpose He has. It is not for “pew occupancy” but for use as a “vessel of honor” as the Master so desires (2 Timothy 2:20-22).

Being molded by the “Potter’s hand,” we reach the value of what being made in the image of God really means. Self-esteem will reach its highest level not solely through academics, scholarship, wealth, charm, or appearance, but as a workmanship of God.

“Christian, remember who you are today, as you follow Him along the way.” You are God’s fine work of craftmanship with several uses the world needs to see demonstrated. You are a work of God for action, not relaxation. As John 13:34-35 says, “By this all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another.” Let that beauty be seen in you. Get up every morning and have a good day being His workmanship.
