What is Your Place in the World? (1)
Where you live may be what you believe is your place in this world. If you read John 17:14-21, Jesus wanted His apostles “IN” the world but not “OF” the world. The Lord wanted them “IN” the world but “sanctify them in the truth: thy word is truth” (v. 17). Letting the truth guide them, while they were “IN” the world, would reduce the possibility of doubt, falsehood, and worry. They would know how to live, what attitudes to have, and what to say.
Jesus had this same behavior. His decisions, attitudes, and words were not dictated by the world, but by His Father (John 5:30; 8:29). He was “IN” the world, but He was not “OF” the world. His place was to do the will of His Father and save those who were lost (Luke 19:10). Even the kingdom He established was “not of the world” (John 18:36).
Jesus knew His place and the apostles were assigned their place int he world. Where is your place in the world? Where do you belong? It is the same place as the apostles. As a Christian, God wants you here to be sanctified in His truth and not the lies, changes, and uncertainties of the world. The reason: “that they all may be one...” (v. 21). God’s assignment for you through His truth is to be united with Him. He wants your obedience to His will for you in this world. Do you strongly desire God’s will for you in this world? Then you will be interested to know how His will for you can be done. More later...
