"Wherefore We Faint Not"
If we must suffer excruciating, tormenting pain where there was no relief from now until the day of our death, it would be a small thing in comparison to the eternal joys and glories which await us. 2 Corinthians 4:16 says, “Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.”
We can rejoice now not only because God is ENOUGH, but because God is all there IS. We have sorrow because of the weight, disappointments, heaviness, and challenges of life. Those things are not the end of the story. God promises and provides something in advance of our “decaying.” Our approach to the present difficulties and future joys should be with an unending faith, unending peace, and unending hope.
Look at yourself and honestly ask, “Have I lost heart?” Some may have. Some are tempted to give up and cave in to the pressures and problems. Satan would rather you do that. He wants to throw you into the busyness of life and the unrelenting, ongoing tumbling of life. As you “tumble” through life, sometimes things become difficult and you lose heart. See things as God sees them. Looking at it through His eyes, the view is different. The outlook changes. The present is momentary.
Whatever problem of heart or body you experience, are you a joyful person in Christ? This is not to minimize someone’s pain and discomfort, but are you living with joy and hope? Yes, the troubles are real, but the attitude needed with every pain is joy. “Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation” (Habakkuk 3:18).
