More About Jesus (24)
If you know these things,
blessed are ye if you do them.
John 13:17
Some may believe what you do not know will not hurt you. Jesus never endorsed such a theory. Jesus stated in John 7:17, “If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from myself.” The emphasis is on knowing, not the unknown or ignorance.
Knowledge is a prerequisite to discerning good from evil and truth from error. It can keep us from embarrassment and harm. It will also give us understanding and assurance.
When you know what you should do and do it, blessed are ye. If you see yourself losing interest spiritually, you will find it goes back to a point where you did not do something you knew you should do. You did not do it because there seemed to be no immediate call to do it. For some reason, you were spiritually distracted instead of spiritually self-controlled. It is a dangerous thing to refuse to continue learning, know what is good, and refuse to do it (James 4:17).
