The Light That Never Fails
Ye are our epistle,
written in our hearts,
known and read of all men.
2 Corinthians 3:2
Standing alone is something a servant of Christ may do often without realizing he is alone. In the early stages of a Christian’s life, there will be disappointments, because those whom we thought would respect and appreciate our new lives in Christ may soon turn from us and leave us. Sometimes those pressures are not easily handled, and those “lights” the Lord counted on to shine soon flicker out.
We have to live for Christ and stand for Him no matter the approvals or disapprovals of man. Paul said, “...no one stood with me, but all forsook me...but the Lord stood with me and strengthened me...” (2 Timothy 4:16,17). We must build our faith not on fading lights of Christians who will not shine for Christ, but on THE Light which never fails. Look into the word of God and see His face. Behold the light which shines from Him - His word (Psalm 119:105). Embrace that illumination. He will be for us and with us when others are against us or want nothing to do with us (Romans 8:31).
Allow nothing to keep you from looking with strong determination into the face of God regarding who you should be and the doctrine of God which you believe. Every time you teach or act, make sure you look God in the face first before you speak the words or engage in a particular activity. A Christian servant is one who perpetually looks into the face of God with assurance it is “God who worketh in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:3). As the skin of Moses’ face shone because he had been in the presence of God, your ministry in righteousness should illuminate the way of Christ, because you have been with God. Let your light shine, even if others choose not to follow.
