The Spiritual Emphasis Of The Church
The church of Christ cannot compete with TV shows, restaurants, movies, baseball games, schools, adventure parks, or banquets. The reason is simple: God never designed the church to meet those needs satisfied by the above mentioned places and activities.
In the same line of reasoning, neither can any of the above mentioned things compete with the church of Christ. When it comes to love, teaching, exhorting, fellowship, peace, and joy, the church has no peer. The church is built for the purpose of being “the pillar and ground of the truth (Acts 2:47). The church is a “spiritual house” which offers up “spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1Peter 2:5).
