G O O D
GOOD is not only a major part of our daily decisions. It is also a vital part of our character. Jesus was approached as a “Good Teacher,” but He immediately responded with, “none is good save one, even God” (Mark 10:17,18). Therefore, good is found only in the One from whom good originates. How then can we be good?
Have a Godly Attitude. A godly attitude comes from thinking like God. It is the way Philippians 4:8 describes. Think on the things which are honorable, just, pure, lovely, true, and of good report. The greatest praise one receives comes from thinking on those things.
Opportunity. Good always manifests itself when it has an opportunity (Galatians 6:10). It would be hard to describe someone as good if there were no evidence of his goodness. This is why Jesus was described as one “who went about doing good” (Acts 10:38). His goodness showed.
Obedient. What good person is there who would not lend his will to obedience? “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23). No good man will be rebellious. He will have an honest heart and heed the things he is told (Luke 8:15).
Delight in good. You can do something good and not delight in it. Some people do things because of necessity, not of delight. Joy for doing good is hard to find in a society which delights in lusts, error, dishonestly, and pride. We need to respond favorably to the good and cleave to it always (Romans 12:9). May we challenge ourselves with being so involved with GOOD it becomes our only hunger in life (Matthew 5:6).
