What would this country be without a president? What is the condition of a company without an owner or boss? What is a soldier without a commander? What is the hand without the head? What is a Christian without Christ?
Without Jesus’ example and teaching, we would have no concept of moral excellence. Without Jesus’ love, what would provide the most noble of motives to influence us to serve? Without Jesus’ interceding, we would not have a mediator before God. Without Jesus’ promises, we would lack the encouragement and inspiration needed when facing difficulties and trials. Without jesus, there would be no deliverance from the bondage of sin and death. As stated by Peter, “And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
That passage about Jesus states the obvious - we are nothing without Him. It also implies and implores us to be connected to Him. Union with Christ is the most precious and needful relationship.
