More About Jesus
As the Son of God, some may question how Jesus could identify with mankind. Luke 3:21,22 addresses this matter by saying, “Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened...and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
In His baptism, as in other things, Jesus fulfilled the law. He was not above the commandments. In His baptism, Jesus perfected righteousness. It was fitting that Jesus be baptized, not for sins which He might have done (Hebrews 4:15,16), but to fulfill all the righteousness of God. It is in obedience Christ relates to man. Jesus demonstrates the responsibility all of us have before God to obey and be right. We are not greater than the commands of God. We were made to follow those commands and be righteous.
