Removing Guilt

Christianity has been the focus of intolerance by those who believe in the liberation of man to do as he pleases. These unbelievers inform us that Christianity is the reason for guilt. If you get rid of Christianity, you get rid of guilt…

Two matters need to be discusses. The first is, the Bible “convicts” anyone who reads its content (John 16:8). This is one of the messages presented by the Holy Spirit. God’s revelation informs us of our responsibility with the choices we make. Therefore it produces guilt. Fact is, guilt is defined as “the fact of being responsible for an offense or wrongdoing.” Each time we disobey law, guilt will be the feeling we have (1 John 3:4; 5:17; James 4:17)…

The second matter about guilt is its reality. Since the reality of guilt is present, how do we remove it? Doing so would be “an answer to prayer” for many. The scriptures provide a wonderful solution: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1,2). For the unbeliever, his/her guilt can be removed by baptism (1 Peter 3:21). Those in Christ who walk disorderly, they should repent and confess their sins to God (1 John 1:7-10).

With the solutions given, do we believe in the grace and mercy God offers to remove our guilt? Do you trust He will and does? Why hold onto something God has removed from His mind!
