"IMNHEVN"
You cannot help but notice the many personalized license plates people use to “decorate” the back bumpers of their cars. Some plates are printed with nicknames, company names, attitude, and favorite teams or hobbies.
One license plate which got my attention was on a nice, shiny, candy-apple-red sports car. The license plate had the letters “IMNHEVN” printed on it. If my “skill” for interpretation means anything, it said, “I am in heaven”. What puzzled me was being there was no driver, since the car was parked, was he in “hevn”? He could not possibly be there, because 2 Peter 3:10-13 referred to the time prior to the new heaven and new earth when “the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up”. Scripture also tells me this driver could not be in heaven, because God does not reward those who are faithful to His will with a nice, shiny, candy-apple-red sports car. He gives a “crown of righteousness” (2 Timothy 4:8).
It was further proof to me that the tag was not issuing a true statement when I remembered what Revelation 21:23 said: “And the city hath no need of the sun...for the glory of God did lighten it”. That day, the big orange ball of warmth known as the sun shone bright on the shiny surface of that car. It was clear to me that Jesus said He had gone to prepare a PLACE for me (John 14:1-3). 1 Peter 1:3,4 says heaven is an inheritance RESERVED for the faithful, and Jesus said a FEW would enter it (Matthew 7:14). That red sports car is not a PLACE. If it was, you would have to make RESERVATIONS and take turns at that because the car barely could hold one or two people, much less a FEW.
The attitude of many people was displayed in the message of that license plate. People have become so comfortable with what they have from day to day. They have programmed their mind into thinking that this world is it for them. If they do not get it and call it “HEVN” now, there will be nothing better. Such is contrary to the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:19-21: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (KJV). May our affections be set ABOVE where heaven is (Colossians 3:2).
