Keeping Your Faith Alive (8)
It is common among man to believe being successful in wealth, possessions, and secular achievements is the most important thing in life. Consult the book of Ecclesiastes, and you will find out differently (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
To keep your faith alive, concentrate on being faithful, not successful. God does not look at us by the “numbers”. Attendance to worship, good works, and giving are essential to Christianity, but God is not absorbed in statistics. God said to King Saul, “Hath Jehovah as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better…” (1 Samuel 15:22).
Success in God’s eyes depends on a heart that has Him as THE priority of life. A person whose faith acts in order to please God means more than people who serve to please me or the number of people I impress with the things I own. Spend time with God. Learn His ways. Understand what means most to God, then do it. If this is our concentration, the Lord will say to us one day, “Well done...thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of the Lord” (Matthew 25:21).
