The God Of Creation

“He’s a person everyone should get to know.” Those are words used to describe a person highly regarded and respected. Being acquainted with such a person is thought to be nothing short of a blessing. In Jesus’ prayer in John 17:3, He said, “And this is life eternal that they should know thee the only true God, even Jesus Christ.” If no knowledge of Him is acquired, the result will be suffering in eternity (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).

Knowing God is more than a passing thought which says, “I believe there is a God.” Man’s first idea of God is witnessed right outside the back door and with eyes and ears seeing and listening to nature. “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handiwork” (Psalm 19:1). The creation of the world and perceiving the “things that are made” (Romans 1:20) by God, let man know a power both great and majestic exists.

Who can look at the ocean waves without being impressed by the awesome power of God? Can you look out over the Grand Canyon, view the snow-capped mountains, watch the sunset, or stroll among the lilies of the field and not feel the glory of God/ Scriptures say we are made “in the image of God” and “wonderfully” so (Psalm 139:14). Even the discoveries by man of the complexity of the human body give further witness, “in him (God) we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28). WHen you take a deep breath, drink a glass of water, or sit in a chair in the house as it rains outside, you should know a gracious and good God does live. He supplies us with everything we need.

The Bible does not set out to prove God’s exstence. It is the testimony of witnesses and words of inspired men which plainly state “God is”. Faith on the part of man is belief in those testimonies and words. It is our duty to examine the evidence, weigh it in the balance, and come forth with a conviction. It was in the beginning “God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Knowing God begins with believing in a Creator. Unless one believes God made all things, chances are he will not listen and obey the rest of the story - “The revelation of God’s word”.
