Cravings: Good Or Evil?
“One thing that I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life…” - Psalms 27:4
How do you know if your craving is noble and holy or corrupt and evil? Is it a strong desire for Satan or for God? It is not that complicated a process. You need to consider your focus, your strength, and its impending consequences.
If you check your focus, it will tell you if you are headed in the wrong direction. What actions will your desire lead you to say or do? Does this action have the chance of consuming you? Are these actions and words right or wrong according to the Bible? From your response to those questions, you may need to change your path…
How strong is your focus? How “driven” are you? If God gave a command, would you be hindered by anything to obey Him? If a lust pulled at you, would you find a way to cross every barrier God placed in your way? Have others counseled you against this action? Would you be sacrificing your spiritual life? Are you avoiding people to do this? Your actions may have enough strength to harm you and others…
What will be the consequences of your behavior? Who will be affected if you fulfill this craving? What biblical justification do you have for bringing these consequences into your life? Will you be destroyed or exhorted from what you crave? Do not care less about the impact of your actions. Be careful…
